The London BioScience Innovation Centre (LBIC) required a series of refurbishment and reinstatement works within its specialist science and research laboratory environment. The project focused on restoring affected laboratory spaces, improving their functionality and ensuring the facilities could continue to support critical research activities with minimal disruption to occupants.

Coordinating Works in a Live Laboratory

Axis Environments delivered a comprehensive package of repair, refurbishment and installation works. The scope included internal redecoration, ceiling repairs, flooring reinstatement and the installation of laboratory furniture complete with associated power and plumbing services. Working within a live scientific environment required careful planning and coordination to ensure all works were completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with operational requirements.

Repairing Damage & Improving Functionality

Part of the project involved remedial works following nitrogen leaks that had damaged both carpet and vinyl sheet flooring. Our team repaired and reinstated the affected floor finishes, restoring the spaces to the high standard required to maintain the performance requirements expected within a laboratory setting. Additional improvements included the installation of two new laboratory sinks and associated service connections to enhance the functionality of the research facilities.

Supporting Ongoing Research

The completed works successfully restored and upgraded key laboratory areas, providing LBIC with refreshed, fully operational environments that support ongoing scientific research and innovation. Through careful coordination and technical delivery, Axis Environments ensured the facilities remained safe, functional and fit for purpose, while minimising disruption to day-to-day laboratory operations.
